About International Balloon Museum

Enjoy this magical place, where you can explore the history, science, sport, and art of ballooning and other innovative forms of flight! Did you know that human aviation began with ballooning in 1783? Discover how and the many advancements that have followed! The International Balloon Museum features many interactive exhibitions and many educational programs for you to participate in.
The museum was named in honor of Albuquerque’s pioneering aeronauts Maxie Anderson and Ben Abruzzo, and it opened in 2005. Since the opening, the museum has welcomed over one million visitors from all over the world.
